Late night short blurb. by Ivan Marcin

Sipping to some incredibly good houjicha karigane tea. This definitively makes late nights 10x better.

It was a very pleasant surprise while stepping out this morning, heading to work, when I bumped into the Usps man. Thing is, at first I didn't recognize the package. Actually, I even forgot for a bit about it since my really important package was delayed 2 weeks(Deus Ex for xbox).

Like with every new package, I quickly took a glance at all sides of the box looking to satisfy the cat like curiosity.  It stroke me when I noticed the Japanese writing and on the box and the words "hibiki-an tea".

That was it. It felt just as if Santa Claus arrived 4 months early with bunch of tea .

Now if only Santa could magically make Deus Ex be back in stock... #hope

Anything you want by Ivan Marcin

Just finished this short but sweet book. Interesting because of the story itself, and because it came from Amazon's Domino project. First, The Book:

It's the story of how Derek Sivers came up with, started, and ran CD baby. It was one of the first websites where you could buy CD's online from independent musicians.

All about  how it started as a very simple website for Derek to sell his own CD's, which grew to his friends as personal favors,  other musicians,  a business, and later on a company with millions of dollars in profit.

The best of it is that it's not the stereotypical A+++ type entrepreneur story full of ambition.

One guy started doing what he loves, making something needed and good enough for him, which happened to help other people and people went over and over gaining supporters. The best part of it is the ideology of being helpful to people, friendly, and cool with it.

It's a short read at about an hour with a  good insight, and an easy feel good style.  Highly recommended both startups ,entrepreneurs ,or random people all along.

Second: The Domino project, which is awesome. Similar story, independently published books started by Seth Godin(Bam!) and distributed by Amazon. So far this is my third book from them and the quality is top.

Homemade coffee soda by Ivan Marcin

Well, I was shocked by how good that coffee soda was, and could help myself but to ask "How can I make it myself?". I remember the story of how Dr. Pepper went on to add sugar and club soda to his cough syrup and came up with an awesome drink, so I went over with my simplistic approach:

  • Pour espresso shot.
  • Add sugar.
  • Pour club soda
  • ????
  • Profit!

the ???? step proved to be massive amounts of foam pouring over the glass. It got to the point where most of the drink was just foam and no liquid on the bottom. So just pour the soda slowly , or blend with a small amount of water and then dilute.

It had a good taste, the right amount of sugar and more natural with less gas. I still like the pre-made version though :)
